![]() ![]() This is completely different from enacting a rape fantasy in real life with a consenting partner. These characters, fictional they may be, have no power, no hope, no means to redemption. Too many people don't seem to understand that these games are completely inhumane. And if someone is unhappy, this kind of material is the last thing they should turn to elevate their mood. There's no reason for a happy, healthy man or woman with a supportive network of friends and family and goals in life to want to see someone get physically and mentally tortured to the brink of death. I think you're probably going to get a 'generalisation much' comment. Don't let the media sway you into believing things about people's culture before you have a chance to experience these things, and the reason why, first hand. I have no connection with the spiffy hentai game featured in your report, I am sorry to say however as an author of Japanese hentai manga, I think I am well qualified to object to the views you present.Īlso, just as an aside, let it be known that those condemning Japanese society for this are no better than those who condemn gypsies, as we saw in the gypsy post so many months back. I have seen your news report that tries to stir up fear, prejudice and misunderstanding. Nowadays, most of my work consists of non-hentai manga. Of course, I also draw manga that aren't hentai. Note that I may not agree with all arguments made in this letter, and I don't really think it's likely to gain many supporters for our viewpoint, but it's an entertaining read. Nogami Takeshi, a Japanese mangaka known for such works as Koutetsu no shoujo-tachi (art, Shounen Ace), Serafuku to juusensha (Champion Red Ichigo) or various artworks for the Strike Witches franchise, has written an open letter to CNN in reaction to the latest report. CNN is also getting many hits for that piece of quality reporting, to the point that reporter Kyung Lah got to put up an even finer follow-up article yesterday: a cultural-essentialist explanation of why Japan is so perverted. (Yeah, no, that's not stereotyping at all.) And there were a couple of silly CNN blog posts on the subject in between, to boot. And it might be working: at any rate, that CNN report is getting quite a bit of attention on the Japanese Internet (though not yet on mainstream media). It is not difficult to imagine that lobby groups within Japan are using Western media to put pressure on Japanese elected officials on related issues. You have probably heard about CNN recently stirring up gratuitous controversy over Rapelay, an issue that should have died down almost a year ago. (And idk which pic to use, so I just went with 1 of kumi brushin da hataz off) (What this post was trying to say, except more eloquently.) ![]()
